| Job Description: |
The mission of the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) is to be a unified voice for energy efficiency through research, education, policy, communication, and the deployment of programs that promote energy efficiency for a cleaner environment, a more prosperous economy, and a higher quality of life in the Southeastern region of the United States. The not-for-profit organization is based in Atlanta and serves Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In the Southeast, success in promoting energy efficiency depends on active engagement of the utilities, particularly through expansion of energy efficiency programs funded by ratepayers and administered by the utilities. The Utility Director will serve to implement the strategic goals and objectives of the utility program working with investor owned, cooperative, and municipals utilities. The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Overall management of SEEA's Utility Program throughout SEEA's territory; Management of grants in support of the Utility Program, including preparation of timely reports on progress; Development of policy initiatives to support energy efficiency for public service commissions, state legislatures, and local governments; Advocacy in support of such policy initiatives; Participation in the proceedings of public service commissions through meeting with commissioners and staff, serving as a member of PSC sponsored collaboratives, appearing as a public witness, organizing and/or presenting at workshops, filing written comments, providing information to interested parties on best practices and processes, and connecting PSC staff to other national and regional expertise; Working with utilities to promote best practices in the design, implementation, and evaluation of energy efficiency programs; Engaging other stakeholders either individually or through appropriate collaborative processes, including workshops, stakeholder groups, and other means; Developing, supporting, and leading stakeholder coalitions; Developing access to a network of regional and national experts on energy efficiency; Conducting and/or managing research on energy efficiency programs and related policies; Writing and/or supervising the creation of research papers and other educational materials for public service commissions, utilities, and other stakeholders; Serving as a resource to regional and national peer organizations, study committees, and others seeking information about utility-based energy efficiency in the Southeast; Presenting at state, regional, and national conferences, as requested.2 Key Attributes To be successful in the position, a considerable degree of independent initiative will be required along with the ability to quickly acquire new information, to work effectively with team members from SEEA and other organizations, and to express complex ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
