Job Description:  Overview:

Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.

Responsibilities:

Stantec Calgary's downtown (8 th Ave SW) office, has an immediate opportunity for a Intermediate Wildlife Biologist to join our Wildlife team.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Leading or participating in wildlife related field work
  • Applicants with highly developed breeding bird identification (sight and sound) skills are preferred
  • Data analysis and management
  • Some report preparation
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of field experience
  • Highly developed computer skills such as excel, Microsoft word
  • Experience working in western, prairie and northern ecosystems
  • Diploma or degree (Degree preferred) in wildlife biology or conservation, environmental biology, Renewable Resources or ecology
  • Wildlife identification skills and experience in conducting field surveys in Alberta
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to work flexible hours (including evenings and weekends) under a variety of conditions
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and under deadlines
  • H2S Alive, First Aid an asset
