The board of directors of Oregon League of Conservation Voters is seeking a dynamic executive director.
About OLCV: OLCV is Oregon’s leading environmental political group. OLCV runs aggressive campaigns to elect pro-environment leaders and hold elected officials accountable. During the 2008 and 2010 election cycles, the organization endorsed more than 100 candidates each year, winning more than 70-percent of our targeted races. The organization also plays a leadership role in coordinating the Oregon environmental community’s lobbying and legislative efforts in Salem. OLCV and its Political Action Committee, along with its sister organization, the OLCV Education Fund, has a staff of nine. In 2010, the combined budget of the three organizations was $1.3 million.
Timing: We are seeking somebody who can start on or around Nov. 1, 2011.
Job Description: The successful candidate for executive director will have strong fundraising, political, and nonprofit organizational experience and skills as well as a passion for protecting Oregon’s environment. Primary responsibilities include:
The executive director reports to the board of directors.
Attributes Sought: The successful candidate will have a strong personal commitment to OLCV’s mission. He or she will be a charismatic, visionary leader with proven fundraising and successful political experience. The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to work effectively as a legislative advocate with people from both sides of the political aisle, business groups, and other non-traditional potential allies. He or she will have successful experience leading and managing a non-profit advocacy organization. Experience and skills sought include:
Location: OLCV’s headquarters are in downtown Portland. Regular travel within the state is required, with occasional travel outside the state.
Compensation: OLCV offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, along with holiday, vacation, sabbatical, retirement and health/dental benefits.
