| Job Description: |
The Ohio Environmental Council (OEC) seeks to hire a dynamic, energetic, and effective water policy and outreach staff person to assist with the OEC’s Agricultural & Clean Water programs. The staff person will establish, build, and manage credible and well-respected statewide policy initiatives for the OEC related to water, environmental health, and sustainable agriculture policy. Through community organizing, the staff person also will work to increase understanding among OEC members, the general public, and relevant groups and organizations about the critical need for progressive environmental policy measures, to raise visibility about the need for progressive legislation and effective regulation among key local, state, and national policy makers. The staff person also will assist with OEC efforts at the legislature and as well as with Ohio’s executive agencies. Responsibilities The OEC seeks to hire a unique, ahead-of-the-curve water policy and outreach staff person interested in helping the OEC to advance clean water policy in Ohio through a variety of campaigns. Programs and projects on which the staff person may direct or provide assistance include:

Qualifications: The applicant must possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. Completion of a postgraduate degree or equivalent work experience is preferred. Applicants should have a strong interest in environmental issues, along with prior coursework or work experience in political science, public administration, environmental science, public health or a similar field. Knowledge of the historical and current political landscape in Ohio is preferred. Additionally, our new hire must be comfortable in a demanding work environment; and possess the willingness and ability to occasionally travel and work evening and weekend hours, strong writing and public speaking skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
