Stantec’s Industrial Buildings and Facilities group offers services for all phases of the project life cycle, from pre-project planning through detailed design, construction and operations to decommissioning. Our Vancouver Business Unit consists of a multidisciplinary team of over 70 professional and technical staff who deliver creative, innovative and integrated solutions to meet our clients’ needs.

 

Stantec's integrated Project Management, Engineering, and Architectural Industrial group is focused on meeting the buildings and facilities needs of the Department of National Defence and clients in the Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul sectors. The projects include aircraft hangars, public transit vehicle maintenance facilities, food warehousing and distribution centers, and a variety of other industrial projects.

Responsibilities:

Our downtown Vancouver office is currently looking for a Senior Electrical Contract Administrator to join our Team.  The successful candidate will liaise with owners, contractors and the project design team to ensure conformance of the electrical installation and monitor electrical work during a projects construction phase.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Attend Construction meetings
  • Review the Contractor’s progress claims
  • Carry out site visits and field reviews
  • Document progress of the electrical work on site
  • Advise owner of necessary changes in the contract work
  • Assist the design team with preparation of change notices
  • Review shopdrawings
  • Review contractor’s record drawings
  • Prepare and issue Field Review Reports, change notices, site instructions and clarifications as needed
  • At completion review the project for compliance with the CEC and BBC
  • Advise the Engineer of Record of the suitability of the project for occupancy as per the BBC
  • Conduct building evaluations and assessments
  • Witness Fire Alarm Verification procedures on behalf of the Engineer of Record
  • Assist in the preparation of Operations and Maintenance manuals
  • Assist the performance engineering team with commissioning activities from time to time
  • Attend in house and formal training sessions to ensure continuing professional development
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a technical college in electrical technology or an electrical journeyman certificate
  • Minimum of 15 years working experience in the electrical construction industry
  • Experience in the construction of Healthcare or Secondary Education related facilities will be a definite asset
  • Willingness and aptitude to learning on the job and in formal settings
  • Must be familiar with basic construction techniques and methods
  • Must display a basic understanding of mechanical systems and their function within a facility
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment
  • Must be comfortable with making independent decisions
  • Sound knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Familiar with the ULC standards governing the installation and performance verification of Fire Alarm Systems
  • A working knowledge of contract law and contract documentation
  • Sound working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of office products
