Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking to hire an experienced Journeyman Plumber, Pipe-Fitter, Sheet Metal Worker, or Controls Technician to fill the role of Mechanical Construction Administrator/Commissioning Agent in our Saskatoon or Regina office.

 

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Providing Mechanical Construction Administration services for Institutional and Commercial building projects.
  • Clarification of Drawings and Specifications.
  • Review of shop drawings. Review of contractor invoices.
  • Site inspections to confirm that the Contractor’s work is in general conformance with drawings and specifications.
  • Review of maintenance manuals and record drawings.
  • Assist with issuance of Site Instructions and Change Orders.
  • Review Contractor pricing associated with change orders.
  • Attendance at construction meetings.
  • Review of drawings and specifications prior to tender with focus on coordination and constructability.
  • Assist with cost estimating prior to tender.
  • Creating Commissioning plans. Chairing commissioning meetings.
  • Creating commissioning checksheets for static and performance verification of systems.
  • Conducting field inspections of mechanical systems to confirm compliance with owner’s design intent.
  • Witnessing and documenting performance verification tests
  • Preparing Commissioning reports.
  • Coordinating field work with contractors, other offices, and other project team members.
  • Keeping up-to-date on new products, technologies, and design processes.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Journeyman Plumber, Pipe-Fitter, Sheet Metal Worker, or Controls Technician with 20 years experience in the construction of commercial and institutional buildings.
  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes and standards including NBC, Plumbing Code, SMACNA, ASHRAE.
  • Experience with contract documents, construction documentation, Site Instructions, Change Notices, Requests For Information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be self-sufficient and self-motivated with strong negotiation skill.
  • Ability to meet assignment schedule & deliver quality products under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
