Responsibilities: Our Edmonton, AB Electrical Buildings group is currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer /Consultant to work on multimillion dollar commercial, healthcare, institutional projects. In this role you will: - Liaise with the Project Manager and/or clients to determine project needs
- Lead others in determining viable solutions for design issues
- Conduct field investigations of electrical installations
- Perform Building evaluations
- Preparation of engineering reports (ie: Schematic Design, Design Development, Issue Reports.)
- Keeping up-to-date on new products, technologies, and design processes
- Providing construction field support, technical troubleshooting and advising as required for specific project issues
- Coordinate electrical design activities to meet expectations of the project design team and Client representatives
- Instruct others in the preparation of working drawings and specifications for construction.
- Prepare Client correspondences / presentations
- Coordinate reviews/selections of appropriate materials and equipment
- Prepare drawing/document lists, with associated engineering/planning budgets
- Assist in the coordination of project design activities and the preparation of engineering work schedules
- Coordinate design work with other disciplines, other offices and other project team members
- Coach Intermediate and Junior Staff members informally, or through formal presentations
- Assist the management team in developing tools and techniques for the execution of daily duties
Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess: - A minimum of 12+ years of general design experience on large commercial and institutional facilities including lighting, fire alarm, power distribution and low tension systems for multimillion dollar construction projects
- A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited University or equivalent.
- Must have a thorough understanding of the principals involved in preparing construction documentation and the different project delivery methods
- Working knowledge of commercial design practices and construction methods
- LEED© accreditation will be an asset.
- Thorough understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in technology
- Ability to integrate new technologies into daily work processes
- Ability to meet assignment schedule & deliver quality products under pressure
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal & written
- Sound working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of office products.

- Demonstrated willingness to engage in continuing education activities
