Our Industrial Buildings and Facilities group offers services for all phases of the project life cycle, from pre-project planning through detailed design, construction and operations to decommissioning. As Prime Consultants on projects, our Practice Area collaborates with technical staff throughout the Stantec organization to provide overall leadership and direction in bringing creative, innovative and integrated solutions to meet our Client’s needs.

Our Practice Area is a diverse group of 180 Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, Industrial Planners and Technologist team members, across Canada, specializing in the functional programming, planning and design of buildings and infrastructure needs for clients within the Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul and National Defence sectors. Some of our projects include: food warehousing and distribution centres, heavy vehicle and transit maintenance facilities, aircraft hangars, office buildings and other light industrial projects.

Responsibilities:

As the overall Mechanical Discipline Manager, the successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to the 13-person mechanical engineering team for the Vancouver group, be responsible for the quality management processes and define a set of mechanical standards and guidelines which would form the basis for ensuring the technical quality of our deliverables. In addition, you would also be responsible for mechanical engineering staffing of the projects, identify training requirements for the mechanical team members and, working with other discipline managers, foster cross-fertilization and workflow integration between the engineering and architectural disciplines to achieve a collaborative design process.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership, solid mechanical design experience and excellent communication and people skills with your clients and team members. Significant experience in mechanical design (of buildings and light industrial facilities) along with working with integrated team environments is essential. Well developed written communication skills in the preparation of technical reports, correspondence and design standards/guidelines are also important. Professional registration as a Mechanical Engineer in BC (or other provinces) is required.
