Responsibilities:

Our Saskatoon office is looking for a Senior Designer , responsibilities will include p roducing and revising quality AutoCAD drawings to Company standards as directed by an Engineer or Team Leader or Project Manager under minimum or no supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates the preparation of project designs and details
  • Responsible for design and detailing of assemblies and arrangements
  • Assists in the training and mentoring of Designers and Drafters
  • Able to thoroughly check the work of other Designers as required
  • Acts as Design Team Leader on projects as required
  • Assists Engineer and Project Manager with such tasks as information gathering, vendor contacts, etc.
  • Assists with drawing list updates
  • Prepares Bills of Materials, Weight Take-Offs and similar tasks
  • Reviews work once completed
  • Provides constructive input and feedback

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

The position requires the incumbent to work day-shift Monday to Friday, in an office environment. The position may require the incumbent to travel on occasion.

Qualifications:

Graduate of Technical or College Course in Drafting, or ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge received from previous experience in a similar position plus +8 year’s experience in AutoCAD design and +6 years industrial and infrastructure specific experience. The position requires the incumbent to have competence with a variety of computer software, specifically, AutoCad, 3D Software and Microsoft Word and an understanding of their use in an engineering environment.  Knowledge of the applicable Mining and Safety Acts, Regulations and Codes is an asset..

The Senior Designer must be able to demonstrate leadership ability and possess above average written and oral communication skills and to be able to work with minimal or no supervision. The ability to work well in a team environment is also essential for this position.
