Job Description: 

Mass Audubon's South Coast Sanctuaries (Allens Pond and Great Neck) seeks an energetic, organized self-starter with great verbal and interpersonal skills to serve as our Volunteer and Outreach Programs Administrator. Position is full-time between April and September and part-time (24 hours/week) between October and March. Under the direction of the Sanctuary Director, the Volunteer and Outreach Programs Administrator will organize and conduct the sanctuary's volunteer program, particularly the recruitment, selection, training, and management of more than 300 interns and volunteers. Additionally, he/she will coordinate the sanctuary team in the development and implementation of outreach programs and special events, including the Allens Pond Duck Derby. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, customer service, program delivery, public relations, and office support. Additional duties include writing sanctuary newsletters and press releases, representing the sanctuary at meetings and events, and acting as liaison with partner organizations and local groups. The Volunteer and Outreach Programs Administrator will develop and maintain a schedule of work, prepare outreach program annual plan and budget in coordination with supervisor, and participate in all aspects of the sanctuary's operation as requested.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required in education, administration, or other related field, plus 3 years relevant experience. Experience as a volunteer required. Management or supervision of volunteers, interns, or staff preferred. Success in this position requires excellent speaking and writing skills and commitment to helping others grow in understanding and concern for the environment. Applicants must be computer proficient with experience in Microsoft Office and database management software; applicants should specify which programs they have used and in what capacity. Program development and marketing experience a plus. Must communicate effectively with members, visitors, staff, and volunteers and be able to focus on administrative tasks despite frequent interruptions. Should be organized, able to multitask, and work productively with others in a shared, fast-paced environment with changing priorities and recurring projects. The successful candidate must enjoy working with the public and being part of a team. Must have a valid Massachusetts driver‘s license; and be able to work evenings and weekends as needed, walk/run on uneven ground, and lift up to 40 pounds. Must be certified in first aid and infant, child and adult CPR or be willing to be certified within 60 days.

This exempt position requires working full-time during half the year, including summer, and 24 hours a week half the year.
