Job Description: 

The Center for EcoTechnology provides energy analysis, diagnostic testing, and ENERGY STAR home certification for builders and remodelers. This position provides the technical services of energy analysis, diagnostic testing, and inspecting for program guidelines and code compliance. This position involves building relationships with builders, sharing information about best practices and educating builders on new code and program requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Providing guidance and documentation for compliance with energy codes
Measuring floor plans to determine areas of components
Evaluating home efficiency in REM/Rate software
Communicating program standards and recommendations to builders
Inspecting homes for insulation and other environmental features
Running blower door and duct leakage tests
Performing Combustion Safety Testing per BPI standards
Installing compact fluorescent light bulbs and other instant savings measures in single family and multi-family buildings
Recruiting builders for the Center for EcoTechnology's Green Building programs and services
Qualifications:
Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rater certification preferred. Ability to gain and maintain HERS rater certification if not currently certified
Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification preferred. Ability to gain and maintain BPI certification if not currently certified
Traveling (approx. 66% of the time) throughout western Massachusetts required
Use of a reliable vehicle with adequate space for the transport of equipment
Home renovation or construction experience desired
Ability to learn energy code requirements and communicate them to builders
Ability to effectively communicate building science information for practical application
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for 100 feet unassisted
Ability to work outdoors, in basements, crawl spaces and attics. These locations often have extreme temperatures and poor air quality
Excellent computer skills and communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong math and geometry skills
Passion for the environment and community involvement
The Center for EcoTechnology offers competitive pay rates and a comprehensive health plan which pays approximately 60% of the individualâ€TMs health insurance costs. New employees are eligible for health, dental and disability insurance after 30 days of employment. New employees accrue 10 days of paid vacation leave per year, 9 sick days and have 12 paid holidays. This position will be a full-time salaried position with benefits based in our Florence office with frequent travel throughout Western Massachusetts including Berkshire County.
