JOB DESCRIPTION
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE
ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND
The Climate Action Reserve is a private nonprofit organization representing international interests in
addressing climate change and bringing together participants from the government, environment and
business sectors. As the premier carbon offset registry in North America, it works to ensure
environmental benefit, integrity and transparency in the carbon market. It establishes high quality
standards for quantifying and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction projects, oversees
independent third-party verification bodies, issues carbon credits generated from such projects and tracks
the transaction of credits over time in a transparent, publicly-accessible system. By ensuring that GHG
reduction projects provide true environmental benefit and earn high quality offsets, the Climate Action
Reserve is creating a trusted and valuable commodity and bringing credibility and efficiency to the carbon

The Reserve offers a hands-on, fast-paced work environment, and great potential for growth and
advancement. This position provides the opportunity to join a team playing a leading role in developing
climate change policy in the United States.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Develop and implement strategies to promote the Reserve and its protocols to specific
audiences, such as project developers, regulated businesses, voluntary offset buyers, and others
 Speak at conferences and to interested organizations about the Reserve
 Plan, organize and speak at workshops, webinars, and other events to promote the Reserve
 Respond to telephone and email inquiries regarding the Reserve from the business community,
project developers and the general public
 Identify new marketing and promotional opportunities for the Reserve
 Write articles on the Reserve for various publications
 Track and project issuance of CRTs
 Provide general support to the Reserve implementation team
SKILLS/EDUCATION
 Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, environmental studies or related field
 At least two years related experience
 Strong public speaking and presentation skills
 Strong detail orientation
 Strong writing and proofreading skills are critical and will be tested during the hiring process
 Ability to work in a fast paced environment
 Interest in and familiarity with climate change issues

COMPENSATION:
Salary commensurate with experience. Position includes a competitive benefits package.
