Stantec’s Industrial Buildings and Facilities group offers services for all phases of the project life cycle, from pre-project planning through detailed design, construction and operations to decommissioning. Our Dartmouth Business Unit consists of a multidisciplinary team of over 60 professional and technical staff who deliver creative, innovative and integrated solutions to meet our clients’ needs.

 

Our diverse group of Project Managers, Engineers, and Technologist team members specialize in the functional programming, planning and design of buildings and infrastructure needs for clients within the Manufacturing, Food & Beverage, Maintenance & Repair and National Defense sectors.  Some of our projects include:  aircraft hangars, food warehousing and distribution centres, heavy vehicle and transit maintenance facilities, office buildings and other light industrial projects.

Responsibilities:

Stantec's Dartmouth office is currently looking for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer /Designer.  This individual will be an excellent communicator and skilled problem-solver with a strong attention to detail. This is a dynamic work environment where you will play a pivotal role in a diverse range of projects, from initial planning to design to construction.

 

This position is of interest to self-directed individuals with 5+ years of experience.  The individual will be expected to work independently on electrical automation design as an integrated member of an interdisciplinary design team. Responsibilities include the design of complete automation systems including PLC, HMI, AC/DC drive and communication network selections and integration, participation in control panel design and generation of bill of materials, cabling, PLC and HMI programming, and commissioning for commercial, industrial, institutional, public and private facilities.

Qualifications:
  • Preference provided for candidates with a degree in Electrical Engineering and eligible for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia as a P.Eng.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in electrical design.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong attention to detail are essential.
  • Experience with the application of the Canadian Electrical Code is an asset.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI selection and programming is a definite asset.
  • Experience with AC/DC drive selection and programming is a definite asset.
  • Experience with EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, DH+ and RIO communication networks is a definite asset.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, PLC-5, SLC, RSView ME, PanelBuilder, and PowerFlex drive platforms is a definite asset.
  • Experience with control panel layout design will be beneficial in this role.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office will be beneficial in this role.
