Plan, prepare, and execute environmental education programs to a wide audience that includes pre-school, school-age, and adult participants using native, non-releasable wildlife as the foundation for education. Work with volunteers and staff members on developing rotating exhibits, education department projects, and special events. Provide excellent, comprehensive customer service to museum visitors and program participants. The Teacher Naturalist position is a member of the Education Department team and shares responsibility for education programs both on and off-site, museum tours and activities, public programs, birthday parties, scout programs that can include overnights, and general office procedures. This is a 40 hour/week position including one weekend day. Evenings and overnights are required as needed. Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in Environmental Education, Biology, or related field. At least one year experience in environmental education/interpretive programming. Good communication skills and ability to relate to the general public, school age children, and co-workers with enthusiasm and a sense of humor. Strong natural history knowledge and desire to learn and share the unique facts and features of the Blue Hills Reservation. Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and successful completion of CORI and SORI. Experience working with captive wild animals, especially birds of prey, is preferred but not required. Must be organized and computer literate with ability to learn new applications. Position is designed to work both independently and as a team player. Benefits: Full benefits package.
