JOB SUMMARY: American Rivers (AR) seeks a Director of Leadership Gifts to lead and manage a comprehensive individual major gifts program. S/he provides strategic leadership to help the Board; President, program and development staffs meet the organization's annual and long-term development/fundraising goals. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, high energy development professional who is interested in making a difference in the field of conservation. This position reports to the Senior Vice President for Development. PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Manage the efforts of Major Gift Team to identify, cultivate, and solicit potential donors. Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of fundraising experience and a demonstrated track record of major donor solicitation. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Normal office environment with extended periods at a computer and some travel required. Some late hours and/or weekends may be required in connection with events or critical deadlines. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Little or no exertion. May occasionally lift and carry boxes of supplies or publications. SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary is commensurate with experience.
