The Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP) is seeking a motivated Program Associate to support our state and local policy efforts. BCAP is a joint initiative of the Alliance to Save Energy, the Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC), and the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE). For over 16 years, BCAP has worked in the U.S. advocating for strong energy codes on behalf of the Department of Energy. We work with state energy offices, state and local agencies, building departments, and those in the construction industry. We also work to inform federal policy makers, national organizations, and consumers on the opportunities and benefits associated with the energy code as the baseline-setting policy for the construction market. The Associate will work within the Advocacy Team to strategically track state and local policy developments related to building energy codes through research and established networks. The successful candidate will produce written materials that present code and building-related information in formats appropriate for a variety of audiences and for use in various outreach mechanisms (e.g., website, social media, conference presentations, newsletters, workshops). Additional work will include online media updates and design (website, Facebook, Twitter). The successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as with a team. This position provides career advancement opportunities. Travel within the U.S. may be required. Experience with data collection and analysis, as well as website maintenance is a plus. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct research and perform qualitative and quantitative analyses on domestic and international energy efficiency policies and programs for buildings to produce case studies, fact sheets, opinion-editorials, reference sheets, etc. The successful candidate must have, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., energy management, architecture, engineering, or public policy); two years of professional experience is preferred. Please email a resume and writing samples to: Paul Karrer, Senior Associate 1850 M Street, NW; Suite 600 For more information on what we do at BCAP, see our online best practice network at www.bcap-ocean.org
