About this Opportunity: The Yosemite Conservancy works diligently to ensure Yosemite remains an irreplaceable resource and wondrous icon by funding projects and programs for current and future generations. Our Development Department is made of a team of specialists who connect with donors seeking opportunities to make a long-lasting impact. As part of this effort, we are looking to add a Donor Relations and Development Projects Manager to our group. The Donor Relations and Development Projects Manager (DRDPM) aids in fostering major and planned giving by performing a variety of functions. Accountable for reaching both project and fundraising goals, the DRDPM builds and broadens engagement through personable and strategic cultivation and stewardship. Under the mentorship of an outstanding development team/director, this position is perfect for the development professional seeking a path towards a major and planned gifts officer role. Engaging with donors requires a passion and knowledge of the Park and our work, a gift of interpreting needs and interests and the ability to engage people in financial partnerships to accomplish great things for this national treasure. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Donor Relations: Identify, develop, and manage a donor portfolio with objective of completing 90 to 100 one-on-one donor education visits per year to convey opportunities to support the Joseph Le Conte Legacy and the John Muir Heritage Societies Meet with primary donors to share information and develop inclusive partnerships Conduct research and create profiles and relationship criteria for key Development Staff donor engagements Serve as a co-representative / team member with Senior Development Officer to major donors, corporations and donors Support Annual and Planned Giving Manager, Institutional Giving Officer and Director of Development goals in obtaining revenue of $8.05 million Create relationship development reports and strategic plans on a weekly basis for the Development Department in the moves management process Oversee and manage in-house acknowledgments including quality and timeliness Development Project Management: Participate in event planning and executionDonor Relations and Development Projects Manager Prepare meeting materials and weekly strategic reports for Development Committee, the Board, and Council meetings Perform donor match prospect research for Top 50 donors, for large events and for major donor meetings Manage donor recognition programs, including in-Park Donor Register, Honor Wall refreshing, and printed recognition in magazine Ensure ethical compliance, as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals; understands and complies with all gift acceptance policies and procedures REQUIREMENTS: Commitment to the mission, values, goals, and success of the Yosemite Conservancy; knowledge of /and enthusiasm for National Parks, conservation and protected areas Bachelor's degree in English, marketing, communications or related field Four to six years of fundraising experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience in articulating program and project information and tailoring to interests of donors Strong interpersonal and verbal skills with ability to fearlessly garner appointments with donor prospects by phone, email and letters Be empathetic and have a high emotional intelligence Excellent written communications Confident consensus builder with proven ability to negotiate complex, high profile or sensitive situations Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts, cause-related marketing and foundation giving. Computer savvy -MS Office (intermediate with excel), database management, preferably Raiser's Edge Ability to work in high-visibility, fast-paced and stressful environment Regularly works on the computer and phone in the S.F. Office Ability to travel to Yosemite National Park and donors' offices and event / meeting sites. (Two trips a year to Southern California, travel to Park 4-6 times a year and travel in Bay Area 1-2 days a week) Ability to work long hours, especially when on deadline, and some weekends.
