Stantec's Environmental Remediation group is dedicated to helping our clients reduce their environmental liabilities by developing comprehensive remediation programs. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation, and mitigation. This is where great ideas and rewarding careers are built. Our team members work on a variety of projects, including environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services. Responsibilities:

Incumbents will travel to sites throughout southern tier New York and northern tier Pennsylvania to perform routine and urgent field sampling and potential maintenance on remediation/treatment systems.  May also perform or support field investigations. Sampling will include a range of media, e.g. soils, sediments, aqueous and non-aqueous, etc.

Qualifications:

This position may be filled as a Technician or Environmental Scientist depending on the successful candiates's education and experience: Technician should have minimum of high school diploma and excellent mechanical aptitude;  Environmental Scientist should have a minimum of BS degree with major in geology, geography or environmental science; MS preferred.

 

Minimum 2 years of relevant field experience required.  40 hr Hazwoper (OSHA Hazardous Worker) certification preferred.  Must have valid driver's license. Must be familiar with wide variety of field instrumention and equipment and have competant skills with sampling a range of media as described previously. Must be able to complete and fully execute laboratory chain-of-custody documentation and manage shipping of samples as needed.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs and be able to pass a respirator fitness test (respirator usage is rare but may be required).  While shift work is not specified, the position(s) and nature of the assignments will require flexibility and the ability to work extended hours as needed.
