Prairie Rivers Network, Illinois' only statewide river conservation organization, is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, skilled individual for the half-time position of Water Resources Specialist, based in Champaign, Illinois. Prairie Rivers Network seeks an energetic and outgoing individual to combine strong technical knowledge with outreach and communication skills to promote riverside habitat protection and restoration along the state's 120,000 miles of rivers and streams, including the Illinois portion of the Mississippi River. This is an 18-month, half-time position, consisting of approximately 20 hours a week. The Water Resources Specialist will report to the Executive Director to lead the organization's efforts to promote habitat restoration and conservation throughout Illinois. This involves partnering with state and federal agencies to enhance existing restoration and agricultural conservation programs, and direct outreach with landowners, citizen groups, and public entities to encourage land uses and management practices that will improve habitat along our rivers. Interested candidates should have more than 1 year experience working in the area of land or water conservation. A Master's degree in conservation biology or related field is strongly desired. Strong demonstrated communications skills, knowledge of environmental issues, and proficient computer skills are all essential. The candidate must be able to work independently to set and achieve goals. To apply, submit cover letter, resume, and three references to Executive Director Glynnis Collins at gcollins@prairierivers.org. Applications are being considered immediately. Competitive salary and benefits. Closing date: Applications will be accepted until the positions have been filled. Prairie Rivers is an equal opportunity employer.
