Prairie Rivers Network, Illinois' only statewide river conservation organization, is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, skilled individual for the half-time position of Coalition Organizer, based in either Champaign or Chicago. Responsibilities include grassroots and grasstops organizing, partner coordination and participation in strategy development for a multi-partner effort to build a coalition in support of a permanent solution to the movement of aquatic invasive species between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River basins. Additionally, the Coalition Organizer will represent Prairie Rivers Network in the media and coordinate outreach and visibility activities. The Coalition Organizer works in close cooperation with Prairie Rivers Network staff and staff of partner organizations, and represents Prairie Rivers Network to the public. Interested candidates should have more than 1 year experience in coalition building around environmental issues or other related work. A degree in environmental science or policy is strongly desired. Strong demonstrated communications skills, knowledge of environmental issues, and proficient computer skills are all essential. The candidate must be able to work independently to set and achieve goals.
