Job Description:    Overview:

Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.



Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will

  • support Stantec with their current projects, many in the Chicago region, dealing with renewable and conventional energy development projects, ecosystem restoration and other biological and environmental support projects for a variety of private and governmental client types.
  • manage a variety of project types including ecological restoration, wind energy development, electric transmission and distribution with services such as environmental planning and permitting, routing and siting, wetland delineation, plant surveys, native planting and management plans, avian surveys and consulting, other rare species surveys, and development of mitigation plans.
  • work with Practice Leader and other staff to grow Stantec's environmental and restoration business in the energy, government, and private sectors. 


Qualifications:

We require 

  • a Bachelors degree in biology, ecology, environmental science or related field. A Masters degree is preferred.
  • a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience, preferrably in the Chicago Region.
  • advanced skills and experience with wetland delineation or rare species surveys and management, and associated regulations (i.e., Section 404 Clean Water Act, The Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act) or routing and siting for electric transmission, pipeline, and/or windfarm projects.
