Job Description: 

People For Puget Sound is the largest membership based organization dedicated exclusively to the conservation of the marine waters and estuaries of the Salish Sea. Our mission is to protect and restore Puget Sound and the Northwest Straits - our living waters, the land and our common future. We work vigorously through hands-on restoration, advocacy and education to realize the vision of a clean and healthy Sound.

Make an Impact. People For Puget Sound seeks a Director of Individual Giving to develop strategy and manage all aspects of individual prospect and donor cultivation, solicitation, recognition, stewardship and communication. This position provides leadership and support to the Fund Development Committee and manages the annual fund and membership programs, staff and volunteers. The Director of Individual Giving is responsible an active portfolio of 50-75 major donors as well as implementing a comprehensive individual giving/major gifts program for all individual donors.

Specific Responsibilities
• Develop communications for donors, e.g., newsletters, annual reports, letters and email messages.
• Oversee the planning and implementation of donor cultivation and recognition events.
• Establish annual revenue goals for individual giving and develop the expense budget.
• Develop periodic forecasts, monitor progress, analyze monthly results and provide progress reports.
• Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of individual giving programs.
• Oversee the maintenance of prospect and donor information.
• Prepare correspondence, proposals, and reports for individual donors.

• Self-motivated, resourceful and attentive to details as well as deadlines.
• Highly organized with the proven skill managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proactive and entrepreneurial with track record of taking initiative, recognizing opportunities and following through to completion.
• Passionate about Puget Sound

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree and five or more years of experience in successful individual fundraising with a track record of closing gifts of $5,000 or more; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience managing people and developing effective protocols for accurate data management, donor follow up and financial reporting are also required. Environmental non-profit experience preferred.
