The Forest Program Manager will work with the Deputy Regional Director and Resource Economist, as well as other Forest staff within the organization, to help represent The Wilderness Society's interests in the Tongass National Forest. The Manager will help facilitate on-the-ground restoration, monitoring and adaptive management. The Manager will work collaboratively to identify and pursue strategies for conserving and restoring public lands and will be responsible for commenting on NEPA documents that guide forest activities. Success will require collaborative work with other conservation organizations, the Forest Service, local businesses, members of Congress, state and federal agencies, and Tribes. Responsibilities Work with the Deputy Director and Resource Economist to develop and implement a science and policy-based program that results in on the ground ecological restoration, strong stewardship prescriptions by the Forest Service, and new, innovative restoration projects that improve both the ecological health of the forest and community health. The ideal candidate has: A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years relevant work experience. A Masters degree in natural resource management or policy, or related field, preferred.
