| Job Description: |
The Northern Rockies office of Earthjustice, located in Bozeman, Montana, has an opening for an associate attorney to begin September 2011. Our office currently consists of four attorneys, an office manager and a legal assistant. We are engaged in a regional, ecosystem-based litigation program focused on protecting wolves, grizzly bears, wolverines, and lynx in the lower-48 states and on preserving the forests, wildlife, and waters of the Yellowstone ecosystem and the Northern Rockies. We are also engaged in the battle to combat global warming by challenging coal mining and coal-fired power plants. We regularly litigate federal court cases in an effort to defeat the major threats to the region's ecological integrity. For more information about our office's work, visit our office page. We seek a creative and motivated attorney with up to five years of experience, an excellent academic record, top written and oral advocacy skills, a demonstrated interest in environmental or other public-interest work, an ability and willingness to work closely with others, and a sense of humor. Although the associate attorney will carry the primary responsibility on some cases, we work collaboratively on all of our cases. The term for this position will be 2-3 years. Starting pay is $51,500 - $53,500 depending on experience, with three weeks paid vacation per year and excellent benefits. Interested persons should apply immediately. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. Established in 1971 as a law firm for the environmental movement, Earthjustice has nine regional offices in the United States, all of which concentrate on litigation. Many of our litigation victories have been instrumental in preserving endangered species, federal public lands, and riparian ecosystems. We encourage applications from members of underrepresented groups who will contribute to the diversity of our staff. We are a non-smoking office and encourage individuality in a collegial atmosphere. To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, two legal writing samples, and three professional references to cnapoli@earthjustice.org, indicating your interest in the Bozeman associate attorney position.
