The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) works to turn environmental values into national priorities. To secure the environmental future of our planet, LCV's mission is to advocate for sound environmental policies and to elect pro-environmental candidates who will adopt and implement such policies. LCV is hiring a field director for its independent campaign in Colorado to help elect pro-environment candidates to Congress. We are running a multi-layered grassroots campaign in the greater Denver area. Summary: The field director will serve as the campaign's lead staffer in-state and will be a key member of the overall leadership team. The field director will report to the campaigns director. This is a short-term, temporary employment position based in Denver, CO. The position will start immediately and will continue through 11/15. Pay will be dependent upon experience.
Responsibilities: • Lead canvass operation that includes both paid and volunteer canvassers, which includes ensuring that canvassers are properly trained and that daily canvass goals are met. • Overseeing administrative aspects of the canvassing, including recruiting and hiring canvass staff, tracking canvasser hours and pay, etc. • Manage field organizer and volunteer coordinator responsible for meeting daily and weekly volunteer recruitment goals. • Work closely with national and state staff to ensure that both short-term electoral goals and long-term organizational goals are met. • Assist in the planning and execution of earned media events, which includes identifying appropriate media opportunities, securing staging locations and recruiting local participants. Qualifications: • Candidate must have enthusiasm and an interest in electing pro-environment candidates to Congress • 2+ years community, issue, labor, or political organizing (1-2 cycle equivalent) • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks • Willingness to relocate • Have your own reliable transportation
