Job Description:

Organic Vegetable Farm Manager

We are currently seeking an individual to help us manage a variety of sustainable agricultural endeavors on our farm, including: organic vegetables and eggs, orchard crops, and forage fed livestock.  The applicant should be able to oversee all aspects of organic vegetable production such as: soils management, equipment management, pest and disease management, post-harvest handling, hiring, and managing a crew.  Experience with livestock is beneficial but not mandatory.  Our ideal candidate is a professional grower with a deep knowledge of organic techniques and at least four years of management experience in organic farming.  We will support the grower with in-house marketing and book keeping.

Compensation includes a starting salary of $35-45K, on farm housing, a 401K matching program, and the opportunity for an increasing profit share as the business succeeds.

Inglewood is a 3500 acre family farm listed with the National Trust for Historic Places.  It is located on the outskirts of Alexandria, Louisiana in the heart of Central Louisiana's Red River Delta.  The farm includes historic buildings, a thousand acre nature preserve, generous water resources, and deep rich soil.

Housing is a small two bedroom, one bath, newly renovated antebellum cottage, with a new bathroom and kitchen, a fireplace, and central air and heat.

As we transition to a fully sustainable farm, we will raise crops, livestock, and eggs in such a way as to enhance the long term productivity of our soil; the economic productivity of the land; the health of the surrounding ecosystem; the environment of the planet; the healthful benefits of our crops; the professional development of our employees; and the taste of our food.  We seek a manager who shares our vision.
