Overview: Stantec's Environmental Remediation group is dedicated to helping our clients reduce their environmental liabilities by developing comprehensive remediation programs. We provide integrated, multidisciplinary services to identify and assess liabilities and risks, and to develop solutions to site management, remediation, and mitigation. Our team members work on a variety of projects, including environmental monitoring, in-situ/ex-situ remedial design and implementation, human health and ecological risk assessments, air quality permitting and reporting, pipeline compliance, stormwater permitting and planning, and audit support services. Our structure cultivates career growth and provides opportunities as unique as you are. Responsibilities: This position is for an entry level geoscientist. Candidate will be responsible for a variety of field and office-related tasks. Field tasks will include logging of soil borings and test pits, monitoring well installations, soil sampling, geotechnical borings, groundwater sampling, aquifer testing and the supervision of subcontractors (drilling, surveying, remediation, geophysical, etc.). Candidate will assist in the preparation and implementation of health & safety plans, field sampling plans and remedial action plans. Office-related tasks will include assisting with data reduction, data tabulation, preparation of boring logs and geologic cross-sections, preparation of groundwater flow and contaminant isopleth maps, analysis of aquifer test data, assessment of contaminant fate and transport, data evaluation and report preparation. The position will require supporting field projects primarily in the tri-state region of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York, but travel to other states may be required periodically. Qualifications: The candidate should have a bachelor of science (B.S.) degree in the geologic sciences, or a related environmental field and be OSHA 40-hour trained. The candidate will have between 0 and 2 years of professional experience in environmental consulting. The candidate will have a valid US drivers license and will be proficient in commonly used software (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with commercially available software for data analysis a plus (e.g., aquifer test, fate and transport models). |
