Job Description: 

Alaska Conservation Alliance (Alliance) seeks a committed, innovative and motivated individual to serve as the Energy Efficiency Public Outreach Director. The Alliance's mission is to protect Alaska's air, land and water by empowering Alaskans to participate effectively in the civic arena. The Alliance is the statewide umbrella group for approximately 40 member organizations and is the vehicle for the conservation community to speak with one strong voice advancing conservation in Alaska. The organization believes that a healthy environment and a strong economy go hand in hand. This position presents qualified applicants an opportunity to work on an important and timely issue in Alaska in a supportive, team-focused, results-oriented work environment.

 

Position Description:

The EE Public Outreach Director will be focused on making energy efficiency a viable, debated, top tier election topic in 2010. This position will engage decision makers on energy efficiency, ensuring candidates regularly state their position on EE. It will be necessary to make certain targeted media outlets cover candidate positions on energy efficiency. The EE Public Outreach Director will work closely with other energy advocates and report to the Alliance Executive Director.

Design and implement a campaign plan that elevates energy efficiency to a top tier election issue in the fall 2010 general election.
Recruit volunteers and ensure they are trained on the issue and skills necessary to enact the work plan.
Engage other energy stakeholders to make EE a collaborative, multi-stakeholder issue.
Ensure EE coverage in traditional media sources while maximizing social and online media.
Coordination of all campaign activities.
Professionally and competently represent the Alliance in public forums.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess:

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to interact with diverse coalitions.
Strong campaign & program planning and implementation skills.
High level of energy, enthusiasm, initiative and entrepreneurship.
Grassroots and organizing experience.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Familiarity with current software applications including the MS office suit.
Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience required.
Ability to travel.
Good sense of humor a must!

Compensation:
