We're currently looking for an Environmental Scientist in our Irvine office.
Responsibilities: - Work with senior principal to grow environmental permitting business in energy sector.
- Coordinate and manage environmental permitting, assessment and/or compliance work related to CEQA, CWA, NPDES, USACE, USFWS and NEPA requirements as they pertain to linear energy projects (liquids pipelines and terminals).
- Perform analysis, consulting, and provide recommendations for energy clients.
- Work with California Public Utilities Commission, California Energy Commission, US Forest service, and/or Bureau of Land Management (BLM), California Fire Marshall with the regulatory approval processes.
- Mentor and teach staff in CEQA, USACE, USFWS and NEPA requirements and processes, mitigation measures, and related implementation means.
Qualifications: Must have five to seven years of experience coordinating or managing environmental permitting, assessment and/or compliance work related to CEQA, CWA, NPDES, USACE, USFWS and NEPA requirements as they pertain to linear energy projects (liquids pipelines and terminals). Requirements include: - Bachelors degree in an environmental, planning or technical field, including engineering, science, planning, or related fields.
- Typically possesses four or more years experience performing analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations for energy clients.
- Demonstrated experience with California Public Utilities Commission, California Energy Commission, US Forest service, and/or Bureau of Land Management (BLM), California Fire Marshall with the regulatory approval processes.
- Demonstrated experience with liquids petroleum pipelines, terminal facilities, and related environmental issues.
- Demonstrated experience with CEQA, USACE, USFWS and NEPA requirements and processes, mitigation measures, and related implementation means.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and to prioritize and balance sometimes heavy workloads to achieve goals while keeping up with a highly mobile and changing environment.
- Team player with demonstrated ability to work well with others, to keep other team members aware of project and client needs.
- Demonstrated experience balancing and organizing multiple projects, reviewing and documenting project progress, developing communication plans, and reviewing and updating scope and progress for construction projects.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients business needs.
- Demonstrated ability to validate and accurately analyze information, and make sound decisions that have considerable business impact.
- Demonstrated the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, management, and vendors to successfully meet shifting needs.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate self and others to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
