Responsibilities: Will lead design efforts for plumbing, HVAC, and fire sprinkler systems. Will coordinate design work with advanced engineering analysis including energy and thermal modeling. Will perform load calculations for new and existing construction projects. Will size and select HVAC and plumbing equipment (air handling units, pumps, fans, and plumbing fixtures). Will produce bid document packages, including drawings and specifications for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Will coordinate documents with other disciplines (Architectural, Structural, Civil, Electrical), produce design reports, and perform peer reviews and Quality Assurance and ISO 9001 compliance. Will perform building assessment related to HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems and prepare cost opinions for mechanical construction. Will prepare surveys of existing mechanical conditions of modernization projects and prepare energy life cycle cost analyses of various architectural, electrical, and mechanical equipment options. Will observe and assist construction administration of the mechanical portions of building construction . Qualifications: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) as well as 8 years of mechanical engineering experience with building analysis for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection or, alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree and 10 years experience as noted above. Also requires demonstrated expertise with AutoCAD and Building Information Modeling (BIM) via Revit MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing); demonstrated expertise with ASHRAE standards, local codes, and sprinkler system design; demonstrated expertise with Energy Life Cycle Cost Analysis (ELCCA) in compliance with State of Washington requirements using Trane Trace 700; and demonstrated experience in the application and design of green engineering technologies and methods, including low temperature heating and high temperature cooling, rainwater harvesting, geothermal systems, heat recovery systems, and solar thermal design. State of Washington professional engineer registration required.
