Climate Solutions is seeking a seasoned and highly creative Director of Communications and Marketing to lead our very strong and experienced staff to significantly ramp up the volume, power, and reach of our communications; to build partnerships with our many allies that maximize the communications strength of the larger movement for climate solutions; and to market our organization to increase our program and fundraising effectiveness. We seek someone with broad experience in the full range of communications‐ media relations, publications, online engagement, and community outreach‐ and the ability to develop strategic initiatives that use multiple communications vehicles to educate and engage the public and specific target audiences. We are relentless practical idealists, and we need a leader and collaborator who can work with us and our expanding partnerships to make the story of climate solutions, spread, stick, and sing. The Director of Communications and Marketing will work closely with our 20 plus staff and contractors spread throughout our four Northwest offices. The position is supervised by Executive Director, Gregg Small, and is based in Seattle, Washington.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Overall responsibility for every aspect of Climate Solutions' communications and marketing. • Develop, manage, and implement a communications plan for the organization, including campaigns, online strategy, media management, brand promotion, public messaging, and website. • Motivate train and provide support for Climate Solutions' staff, board, and volunteers to increase the consistency and efficacy of Climate Solutions' communications activities. • Forge strategic communications partnerships with allied organizations, media, and business. • Oversee the development of all materials. • Coordinate content production and dissemination by Climate Solutions' staff. • Coordinate Climate Solutions' media strategy and outreach. • Supervise the Communications Associate based on our Olympia, WA, office. • Additional duties may be assigned within the course of the work QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: • At least 5 years of communications and/or marketing experience. • At least 1 year of program management experience that includes staff supervision and program planning. Skills and Knowledge: • Exceptional writing, editing, presentation, verbal, and analytic skills. • A collaborative and inspirational nature. • Strong managerial and strategic planning skills. • Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment. • Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Climate Solutions • Ability to operate desktop computer, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and specialized software applications in a network environment. • Functional knowledge of social networking, blog, design and web interfaces. • Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Climate Solutions. Licenses or Certificates: • Possession of, or ability to possess within 3 months, a U.S. driver's license and auto insurance.
REMUNERATION This is an exempt position with the salary negotiable based on the successful applicant's skills and experience.
