Job Description: 

This is a full-time position working out of the national offices of NatureBridge in San Francisco, California.

SUMMARY

The Director of Programs is a newly-created role responsible for ensuring the overall educational excellence of NatureBridge programs through organization-wide collaboration. The Director of Programs leads NatureBridge-wide program content development, initiatives, and the evaluation and coordination of programs and services for current and future NatureBridge campuses and programs. The Director of Programs is the primary liaison to the NatureBridge Education Advisory Council, the NatureBridge Education Team, and the NatureBridge External Affairs team. This position reports to the Vice President of External Affairs & Programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead and facilitate the development and implementation of the NatureBridge education vision and new NatureBridge educational programming to ensure continued excellence in all NatureBridge education programs
* Provide program staffing and project management for new NatureBridge campuses, content initiatives and partnership opportunities, including research and analysis for NatureBridge leadership on all new education ventures
* Coordinate, plan, and implement NatureBridge's ambitious education and evaluation goals
* Lead and coordinate NatureBridge wide initiatives around diversity and cultural competency
* Serve as the primary liaison to the Education Advisory Council, the Education Team, and the External Affairs Team
* Lead and facilitate the NatureBridge wide education team; promote and facilitate inter-campus collaboration (standardization without homogenization)
* Lead and convene the annual NatureBridge education summit
* Write and oversee the development of program-specific content to support communications and development efforts

QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES AND EDUCATION

Required

* Masters degree or equivalent; substantial related experience and/or training (5+ years)
* The ideal candidate must be an entrepreneurial problem solver, comfortable with ambiguity and thinking on their feet, have a proven ability to manage details without losing track of the big picture and demonstrate the following
* Exceptional leadership, communication and managerial skills to multiple audiences
* Project management skills, including successful management of complex multi-faceted programs with cross-departmental team members, partners, and other stakeholders
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of inquiry-based learning, experiential education, and informal science programs
* Significant travel is required

Preferred

* Experience with the National Parks Service; the National Science Foundation; Department of Education
* Training and background in multicultural education, cultural competency, and/or multicultural organizational development
* Credential or experience teaching or working with classroom teachers
* Experience working in environmental education and for non-profits
* Experience writing and editing reports as well as creating and delivering presentations
