Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.



Responsibilities:

 

 

Stantec Calgary, downtown (8 th Ave), is seeking an Intermediate Vegetation Ecologist to join our Vegetation and Wildlife Biological Sciences team.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and conduct
    • Biological inventories with a focus on communities and species of concern that include rare species
    • Environmental impact assessments
    • A variety of natural resource planning projects
  • Intermediate level project management
  • Data analysis and management
  • Report preparation
  • Client relations
  • Supervision of interdisciplinary teams may be required
  • Some field work as required.


Qualifications:

 

Required

  • Bachelors of Science in a related discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience
  • Experience consulting with oil and gas and pipeline related projects is an asset
  • Extensive experience with vegetation and EIA legislation and regulatory agencies (e.g. EUB, NEB, and CEAA).
  • Knowledge and experience with local ecosystems, particularly Alberta, BC and NWT.
  • Demonstrated solid technical writing skills
  • Experience participating in Environmental Assessments
