Our Bookkeeper is responsible for keeping and tracking the financial records of the organization and ensuring that all payments, taxes, and other disbursements are made in an accurate and timely manner. He or she is responsible for payroll and associated recordkeeping. He or she prepares monthly financial updates and prepares other financial information as needed. The Bookkeeper will use QuickBooks software for accounting, and will also maintain appropriate paper files. This is an hourly, part-time position of approximately 20 hours per week, working Monday - Friday. The Bookkeeper is responsible for keeping and tracking the financial records of the organization and ensuring that all payments, taxes, and other disbursements are made in an accurate and timely manner. Duties include: * Managing monthly payroll, including reimbursements, calculating vacation and sick leave, and other payroll items; * Reconciling all bank and brokerage accounts on a monthly basis; The Bookkeeper is also responsible for performing the administrative tasks that all employees perform. This includes, but is not limited to: * Filling out monthly time sheets and other office paperwork, as appropriate (e.g., requests for leave, sick leave, reimbursements); * Answering the office phones if no one else is available; Necessary Qualifications Applicants must have a minimum of an associates' degree in accounting. Experience in nonprofit accounting is preferred. He or she must work accurately, be organized and detail-oriented. He or she must be familiar with QuickBooks, Excel, and Word. He or she must be able to take direction and then work independently. Trustworthiness is a high priority, and a background check will be conducted. Wage: $12-$15/hour, DOE.
