Topeka-based Ogden Publications Inc. (www.OgdenPubs.com), the leading information resource serving the sustainable living, rural lifestyle, farm memorabilia and classic motorcycle communities, is looking for a bright, motivated individual to serve as its public relations specialist. Duties include but are not limited to researching mainstream and niche trends and competitors; developing relationships with key Web, print, radio, television and event contacts; working closely with editorial teams to develop PR strategies, tactics, angles and timelines; pitching via phone, e-mail and social media; writing news releases, pitches, op-eds and other pieces for our niche publications; developing targeted media lists; tracking and evaluating campaigns upon completion; maintaining online newsrooms; coordinating production of employee newsletter; and more. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and research skills, bring new ideas to the table, and be detail-oriented, self-motivated, curious, work independently or on a team, and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Preferred: 1-3 years experience in public relations; knowledge of and experience using social media for business; and an interest in green living, rural living and/or publishing.
