Overview: Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career. Responsibilities: Stantec is one of the largest employers of full-time experienced field biologists in the eastern US. Our current staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrology, forestry, habitat restoration, permitting, GIS, and surveying. State and Federal regulators have respect for Stantec scientists and their work. Our Environmental Management Group is dedicated to managing environmental issues proactively and professionally. In the Environmental Management Group of Stantec, team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, wildlife assessments and inventories, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, hydrologic assessments as well as technical report preparation and NEPA documentation preparation. We focus on hiring exceptionally talented, enthusiastic, and hard working individuals that have a keen interest in the natural sciences and working in a team based environment. Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in an environmental discipline. Experience a benefit. Experience in general ecological surveys and the ability to work unsupervised is required. Experience with a wide variety of bird and bat species and biological disciplines is preferred. Superb observation skills are highly valued, as are a keen interest in ecosystems, comfort with computers and technology, a willingness to learn new skills while conducting fieldwork, and flexibility in work assignments. Willingness to travel and work long hours in the field is necessary. Project biologists work on multiple projects throughout the eastern US. Work may require extensive travel and field work. Projects may include conducting or assisting in passerine and raptor surveys by various census methods, survey via mist net, harp trap, and/or acoustic methods of bats of eastern US, wetland identification and documentation, and technical report preparation. |
