Job Description:

The Oregon Environmental Council is seeking a development director to lead our grant fundraising

compelling grant proposals and reports, is responsible for researching grant opportunities and
identifying new prospects, and maintains the system for tracking and reporting in a timely manner.
The development director leads corporate fundraising, which includes developing a comprehensive
strategy and coordinating communications with companies that support our organization (which
can take the form of general support, program-specific support and/or support for specific events).
The position could take on responsibility for managing our annual fundraising event.
The development director works closely with other staff on the development team (the director of
major gifts, marketing & membership director, development assistant and executive assistant) who
are focused on major donor fundraising, general membership, events, prospect research, and
database management. The development director also coordinates with the executive director,
deputy director, financial manager, communications director, and program staff.
We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, organized, can juggle multiple tasks and
deadlines effectively and is an excellent, fast writer who appreciates a collaborative writing process.
S/he should enjoy working with diverse people and have strong social and interpersonal skills. This
is a responsible position in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. OEC offers a collaborative,

they are. Hours are flexible, benefits are generous, and laughter is frequent.
Oregon Environmental Council's (OEC) mission is to advance innovative, collaborative solutions to
Oregon's environmental challenges for today and future generations. OEC safeguards what
Oregonians love about Oregon - clean air and water, an unpolluted landscape and healthy food
produced by local farmers. We work to create innovative change on three levels: we help
individuals live green; we help businesses, farmers and health providers thrive with sustainable
practices; and we help elected officials create practical policy. Our vision for Oregon includes
solving global warming, protecting kids from toxics, improving the stewardship of Oregon's rivers,
building sustainable economies, and ensuring healthy food and local farms.
The organization's annual operating budget is $1.4 million with a staff of 18 employees, and a 15-
member volunteer Board of Directors from across Oregon. We enjoy broad and enthusiastic
community support. OEC's offices are located in the heart of Portland, well known from being one
of the most sustainable cities in the United States. Learn more about OEC at www.oeconline.org.
