Job Description: 

The Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) is a regional non-profit organization based in Chicago with a mission to advance energy efficiency in the Midwest to support sustainable economic development and environmental preservation. MEEA is committed to be a collective voice for energy efficiency at a national, regional and state levels; act as a clearinghouse to identify, evaluate and create successful programs and market assessments for the region; and foster communication on effective energy policy.
Position Summary:

The role of the Policy Sr. Manager/Manager will be to manage MEEA's local, state and regional policy initiatives while tracking the status of federal initiatives under the direction of the Director of External Relations. The focus of the Policy Manager's work will be development of energy efficiency portfolio standards, outreach to Commission and consumer advocates to educate on EE and outreach to environmental advocates. The Policy Manager is expected to work with policy, membership, marketing and events staff, represent MEEA at various industry meetings as well as to maintain and foster existing relationships in the energy efficiency community that will advance the work of the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance.
Responsibilities:

* Manage MEEAs policy advocacy through coalition-building with all stakeholders, development of written research and recommended best practices and supporting materials to advance MEEA policy goals.
* Develop and maintain relationships with public and private sector organizations and companies in the energy sector, including MEEA members, energy organizations and environmental advocates.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key policymakers including public service commissioners, state legislators, state energy officers, consumer advocates, and the energy advisors to regional Governors.
* Lead development of written materials, including research analysis, white papers, fact sheets and testimony.
* Develop and manage educational and outreach activities to increase awareness and understanding of climate policy and the role of energy efficiency.
* Represent MEEA at appropriate events, including NARUC, NASEO, NASUCA, ACEEE, etc.
* Assist in development of annual policy budget and management of policy-related grant deliverables and reporting
* Manage the tracking of energy and climate policy in MEEA's Midwest footprint including thirteen states and various metropolitan localities.
* Assist in management of Policy Associate, Research Analyst and Policy Interns

Qualifications:

* The successful candidate will be expected to have the following qualifications:
* Passion for energy efficiency.
* B.A. or B.S. required in government affairs, environmental science, natural resource management, or political science.
* Advanced degree in public policy/administration or natural/environmental science required.
* Minimum 5 years experience in energy policy/advocacy or experience working in a congressional office or federal agency, with preference for knowledge of Midwest political landscape.
* A history of results oriented management and capacity to effectively handle multiple assignments;
* Strong facilitation and coalition building skills amongst diverse stakeholders.
* Strong oral and written presentation skills;
* Ability to take initiative as well as work in a team environment
* Orientation to working as a member of a team in a small-office environment
* Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities
* Ability to adapt to shifting priorities
