Job Description: 

The Communications Program Manager leads and oversees the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) internal and organizational marketing and communications activities, including the website, newsletters and publications, branding and other public image activities such as drafting speeches and talking points. The Communications Program Manager will coordinate media contacts and work on communications campaigns and other media and communication related events. The Communications Program Manager also develops and adheres to communications team budget while working with SEEA senior management to identify and secure outside funding for communications initiatives, and directs all aspects of specific marketing and communications initiatives as assigned by senior management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Communications and Media Relations: Develops, executes, and manages strategic communications campaigns and strategies. Garners significant media coverage for SEEA and its issues in national, regional, and local media outlets by undertaking pro-active, strategic media relations; pitches SEEA policy positions, events, reports, statements, and story ideas to various media outlets. Develops and maintains relationships with reporters, news directors, and producers; responds to media requests for interviews with SEEA spokespersons (Senior Staff) and schedule interviews. Plans and carries out news conferences and media briefings.
Writing/Editing: Writes and distributes SEEA news releases for communications campaigns, SEEA policy work, and general SEEA news, and media advisories. Develops or oversees development of specialized media lists. Oversees development of media kits for news conferences and SEEA policy forums and other events. Works closely with SEEA senior staff to support the SEEA's public policy work, including developing messages, writing and disseminating news releases, and writing and placing op-eds and letters to the editor. Drafts and edits articles bylined by SEEA staff that are solicited from outside organizations. Provides editorial assistance to staff as needed.
Project and Program-Specific Activities: Manage and oversee the organization's outside communications and marketing activities, including, but not limited to:
Energy Efficiency Campaign
o Oversees the creation of an energy efficiency campaign that will promote energy efficiency in the Southeast. Using innovative methods and technologies, the Communications Program Manager will work with SEEA Associate Members and energy stakeholders in the Southeast to create awareness of energy efficiency in the Southeast and of SEEA's programs and policies. Consumer campaigns
o Support the outreach efforts to secure new campaign partners and additional funding
o Support other campaign activities as designated by senior management
Publications and Speeches Oversee the development and maintenance of a SEEA speech and presentation calendar and calendar of SEEA's newsletter and weekly Associates Bulletin email Oversee and edit the writing and production of SEEA's newsletter Oversee the writing, designing, and printing of the Associates Bulletin weekly email Oversee the writing, design, and printing of the SEEA Annual Report Oversee the writing of speeches and presentations for corporate management Oversee the writing and development of other promotional materials as needed
Website Development and Maintenance Oversee all information content of the SEEA Web site and Web properties, including regular updates of website pages and addition of links to/from site.

JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field Minimum 6 years of experience in communications, public relations, and media relations Experience planning and executing strategic communications campaigns Supervisory experience Superior writing and editing skills; knowledge of AP style Good public speaking skills with the ability to make presentations and lead team/external meetings Good interpersonal skills Experience developing and overseeing budgets Team player Ability to work on a number of projects and meet deadlines Enthusiasm for advocacy and issue-oriented communications Position is located in Atlanta, GA
