Job Description: 

The Communications Program Associate will be responsible for developing the voice for all aspects of the Alliance's online presence, ASE.ORG, as well as several Alliance microsites. In addition to writing, editing, updating and proofreading site content, this person will also work closely with the technical team to maintain site standards with regard to new development, and manage various aspects of the Alliance's social networking and social media sites (including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and others).

The Web Content Manager will also be responsible for crafting site promotions, email newsletters, and online outreach campaigns, and work closely with the Development, and Research and Policy teams to develop content for fundraising and grassroots advocacy efforts.

The Associate is expected to develop a strong understanding of energy efficiency and the work the Alliance does in support of energy efficiency, as this person will be responsible for ensuring that the often technical content produced by the Alliance is tailored for consumption by a variety of online audiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Develop articles for the Alliance web site and email newsletters;
* Maintain lines of communication with Alliance team members and the Alliance content committee to stay abreast of priorities and developing stories.
* Post content and communicate with our audiences in Alliance social networking and media profiles;
* Copyedit and proofread all web content;
* Support Alliance staff members in developing their own content pieces and updating existing Web content;
* Respond to inquiries from our audiences, both on and offline; and
* Track and participate in discussions on energy efficiency in other spaces.

In addition, the Associate may be called upon to:

* Initiate and carry out research and analysis;
* Prepare project work plans, budgets, reports and grant proposals;
* Plan and organize meetings and workshops; and
* Perform other research, analysis, writing and project organizing and support duties.

Required Skills

* Excellent writing skills;
* Strong goal and deadline orientation;
* Exceptional communication and organizational skills;
* Strong computer skills, including experience working in at least two different content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, or similar) as well as word processing, spreadsheet and database software;
* Proven ability to work in a team and cross-departmental environments;
* Ability to communicate effectively with funders, stakeholders and peers;
* Self-motivation and ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines, with limited supervision; and
* Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years relevant experience (or Masters degree).
