Job Description: 

The Energy Action Coalition is seeking a smart, motivated, and experienced Development Associate to support the work of the Executive Director in support of fundraising as well as helping to develop and implement a major gifts and direct mail program. The Development Associate will also help schedule in-person meetings and conference calls between the Executive Director and foundations. This position reports directly to the Executive Director..

Founded in June 2004 by youth climate leaders, the Energy Action Coalition unites a diversity of organizations in an alliance that supports and strengthens the student and youth clean energy movement in North America. The 35 active and 14 supporting partners of Energy Action Coalition work together to leverage our collective power and create change for a clean, efficient, just and renewable energy future. The work of Energy Action is focused on four strategic areas: campuses, communities, corporate practices, and politics.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

* Support of Energy Action Coalition's foundation-based fundraising by preparing grant proposals, reports, and budgets and maintaining files, database, lists and records.

* Schedule meetings and act as liaison between the foundational donors and Executive Director

* Develop major gifts by researching and cultivating individual donors based on potential for giving and substantive interests.

* Organize and execute fundraising events as a vehicle to cultivate major gifts and direct mail campaigns.

* Work closely with the Executive Director to identify and research new and established foundations and individual contributors. Analyze historic patterns of giving and develop effective strategies for one-on-one solicitations and Planned Gifts.

* Cultivate relationships with major donors through regular customized mailings and by inviting them to special events that highlight the campaign's substantive work.

* Provide administrative oversight of development work including data entry, generating donor acknowledgements, maintaining files, and financial processing.
