Overview: Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues professionally and proactively. Our staff of professionals includes specialists in marine biology, wetland science, wildlife biology, soil science, fisheries biology, botany, hydrogeology, hydrology, forestry, habitat and ecosystem restoration, permitting, GIS, and Information Management. We help our clients to identify and respond to opportunities and threats within constantly changing regulatory and corporate environments, through active engagement with the public, stakeholder groups, and governmental regulators. Our team members have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that may include endangered species assessments, habitat restoration, wetland characterizations, and water resources management. We are seeking exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in the natural sciences to join our team and advance their career.
Responsibilities: Stantec’s Environmental Management practice seeks a Senior Project Manager who will provide leadership for a number of large-scale energy projects in the northeastern US. The Senior Project Manager will aggressively manage projects and budgets, design and lead inspired project teams, and actively participate in business development efforts. The Senior Project Manager will also write and review technical reports, and write and manage the development of major State and Federal permit application materials. The Senior Project Manager position is also expected to act as a role model who actively mentors colleagues with less leadership and management experience.
Qualifications: Required: - Bachelor’s degree in biology, wildlife, or a related natural science. - Five or more years of progressively responsible experience related to natural resources management, consulting, and/or environmental planning. - Experience with NEPA. - Experience leading project teams to successful completion. - FERC licensing experience. - Experience in developing new business. - Strong technical writing and speaking skills. - Willingness to travel. - Strong work ethic, sense of humor, and desire for team success.
Desired: - Master’s degree or other professional degree specializing in biology, natural resource management, land use planning, or environmental policy. - Ten or more years of project management experience related to energy developments. - Comprehensive knowledge of Federal and New England State natural resources-related laws and regulations.
