The Senior Regional Development Director for the Northeastern US and Florida is based in New York City and works from a home office. The position's purpose is to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward new prospects and current donors living in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Massachusettes, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Florida in order to meet an established revenue goal.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Senior Regional Development Director is responsible for achievement of short-term and long-term fundraising goals, specifically solicitations ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 annually and multi-year commitments in support of CI. The annual portfolio is expected to grow from $2.1 million annually to $5 million within three years.The Senior Regional Development Director will work closely with CI HQ staff, CI program staff and regional volunteers to plan and a variety of cultivation eventts both large and small. The Senior Regional Development Director will also lead the fundraising for CI's annual New York Gala while working in close partnership with CI's Special Events team and regional volunteers. The Senior Regional Development Director manages a portfolio of approximately 100-150 major donors and prospects. The principal fundraising will be focused in New York, Massachusettes, Connnecticut, New Jersey and Florida, however, there is the expectation that the Senior Director will work to develop a regional program in the larger region by working with existing donors and prospects.

Working Conditions:

Home office environment and 25%-50% regional travel required. Success in this position requires a person who is a self-starter and has the ability to work idependently and has impeccable professional integrity and confidence. Success in this position is also dependant on the person having a deep interest in the environment, being is highly motivated, committed to teamwork and individual achievement, professional in demeanor, flexible, organized and forward-thinking. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree

Required Skills:

* Educational background or demonstrated experience in Natural Resources, Environmental studies or International Development preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience specifically in the solicitation of major gifts.
* Exceptional verbal and written communications.
* Demonstrated ability to cultivate and solicit significant gifts of $100K or more.
* Experience working with board members and key volunteers in the cultivation of prospects.
* Ability to work within a dynamic environment. Self-motivated individual who can work independently.
* Experience using Microsoft office suite and working with a fundraising database.

Preferred Skills:

* Seven to ten years of major gift fundraising experience.
