The Chesapeake Bay Foundation seeks a temporary Virginia Chesapeake Clean Water Campaign Coordinator in its Virginia State Office in Richmond, Virginia. THE CHESAPEAKE BAY FOUNDATION The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is the largest regional non-profit conservation organization working solely to save the Bay. Established in 1967, CBF has a staff of approximately 185 employees working in offices in Annapolis and Salisbury, Maryland; Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Washington, D.C., and in 17 field education program locations. CBF's headquarters office is in the Philip Merrill Environmental Center, a "cutting edge," environmentally responsible building located in Annapolis, Maryland. CONTEXT OF THE POSITION CBF is seeking to fill a full-time temporary position to coordinate Virginia Office grassroots outreach in support of the Chesapeake Clean Water Act (CCWA) from the end of March through June 30, 2010, with the potential for a three-month extension. * Assist the Virginia Grassroots Assistant and Hampton Roads Science Advocate in outreach to college students and on campuses in Hampton Roads, Richmond, and Charlottesville.
Successful candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of experience that include a variety of grassroots organizing, volunteer leadership and training, and demonstrated insight and skills. Successful candidates have demonstrated abilities using strong interpersonal skills to motivate the public to take action for the environment. Successful candidates offer at least five years of supervisory or project management experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; an ability and commitment to work with partner groups and individuals; and an ability to work with people with divergent points of views and values. Successful candidates offer extensive experience in strategy development and advocacy on legislative, budgetary, and regulatory matters. Successful candidates must have strong time management skills as well as project management skills. Successful candidates must show a proven long-term commitment to environmental protection and conservation. Proficiency with computers and database management is necessary.
