Statewide Organizing for Community eMpowerment (SOCM) seeks a Grassroots Fundraiser and Event Coordinator to conduct a grassroots fundraising and membership growth campaign to increase SOCM's grassroots revenue as well as increase its membership base. SOCM seeks someone experienced in fundraising and event planning and ready to implement an exciting plan to reach out to our hundreds of supporters and donors as well as interested parties yet to join.
Summary of Position

Statewide Organizing for Community eMpowerment (SOCM) seeks a Grassroots Fundraiser and Event Coordinator to conduct a grassroots fundraising and membership growth campaign to increase SOCM's grassroots revenue as well as increase its membership base. SOCM seeks someone experienced in fundraising and event planning and ready to implement an exciting plan to reach out to our hundreds of supporters and donors as well as interested parties yet to join. This position will be responsible for coordinating our fundraising team comprised of the Finance Director, Office Manager, Assistant Director/Lead Organizer and Executive Director. The Grassroots Fundraiser will work under the supervision of the Executive Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Coordinate team of staff and volunteers working on grassroots fundraising and membership growth activities;
* Plan and execute grassroots fundraising and membership growth events throughout the state;
* Plan the organization's Annual Meeting;
* Assist with chapter fundraising and track amount raised;
* Conduct mail appeals (at least 3x year);
* Develop phone banking plans, scripts, and tracking systems;
* Purchase goods to sell, incentives and gifts for individual donors;
* Implement plan for house parties and other member-run fundraisers;
* Update website with progress and appeals for fundraising efforts;
* Develop content for newsletters and direct appeals;
* Provide oversight of dues and renewals for membership;
* Manage membership database;
* Plan and implement special fundraising campaigns such as special anniversary campaigns, pledges, etc;
* Conduct member, staff and board trainings on grassroots fundraising and membership recruitment;
* Work with organizing staff to develop member fundraising and membership recruitment strategies;
* Coordinate and oversee board fundraising efforts;
* Work to identify and cultivate new donor prospects;
* Coordinate and implement cultivation and outreach events for prospective donors throughout the year;
* Work with Executive and Finance Director to develop and implement strategies for marketing planned giving products to SOCM donors and members;
* Perform additional administrative duties as deemed necessary.

Professional Qualifications and Experiences

* Two years of event planning and fundraising experience;
* Strong writing and communication skills;
* Ability to manage a large body of work, attending to both details and the bigger picture;
* Energetic approach to fundraising and outreach;
* Willingness to travel;
* Ability to recruit, supervise and support interns and volunteers;
* Self-motivated and directed;
* Ability to work independently and cooperatively;
* Excellent interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment;
* Experience developing and setting performance measurements with community organizing groups or other non-profits;
* Proficiency in basic computer programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, databases such as Access and comfort working with Apple computers (SOCM is an all-Mac office);
* Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds;
* Deep commitment to environmental, social, and economic justice through grassroots community organizing;
* Foundational understanding of SOCM's core campaign areas is highly desirable.

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits include full health insurance coverage, pension, three weeks paid vacation to start, regular holidays, sick days, sabbatical, growth leave, work-issued laptop, and other benefits.
