Stantec’s Geotechnical Engineering group provides comprehensive geotechnical services to our clients, ranging from field explorations and laboratory testing to the design and construction management of complex geotechnical structures. This is where great people and great ideas truly make a difference. Stantec is seeking a Geotechnical and Materials Technician to join our team in the Sydney, NS Office.

 

 



Responsibilities:

As a Geotechnical and Materials Technician, you will have the opportunity to work with engineers and other technicians performing general geotechnical duties consisting of both field and laboratory work including the following:

  • Conduction of full range of laboratory tests in soils/concrete/asphalt lab/concrete testing.
  • Compaction monitoring.
  • Asphalt inspection.
  • Construction quality control/quality assurance.
  • Test pit and borehole logging.
  • Contractor supervision.
  • Proposal and report assistance.
  • Other general field related duties.


Qualifications:

 

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following qualifications:

Energetic team player with a commitment to superior client service.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Completion of a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Previous experience is preferred; however, recent graduates in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or undergraduates with at least one year in a Civil Engineering Diploma program are also encouraged to apply.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
