Job Description: 

The Development Director is responsible for MCEA's overall fundraising program-to identify, solicit, and cultivate a diverse funding mix from major and minor individual donors, foundations and other channels to support MCEA's mission and programs.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
1. Prepare and implement MCEA's annual development plan, with both specific revenue goals for the annual budget and strategies for long-term revenue development.
2. Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with major individual donors.
3. Manage broader individual donor campaigns, including membership solicitation, membership renewals and special appeals.
4. Work with program directors and staff to secure general operating and restricted program support from foundation grants.
5. Plan and organize special events to engage membership, increase MCEA's visibility, and raise additional funds.
6. Organize, support and coach the fundraising efforts of the executive director, board, staff and volunteers.
7. Convene and support the work of the board's development committee.
8. Serve on MCEA management team and actively participate in MCEA's strategic program planning.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• A minimum of 5 years of significant fundraising experience with major gift solicitation and general membership, ideally in a nonprofit setting.
• Familiarity with the local and state philanthropic community.
• Familiarity with local, regional and national funders.
• Grant-writing experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Self-motivation and initiative to take charge of MCEA's fundraising program, as well as ability to work as part of a team.
• Multi-tasking capability and ability to work well under pressure.
• Excellent computer and development data management and analysis skills.
• Strong commitment to and strong interest in environmental protection and MCEA's mission.
