We collaborate on developing innovative solutions for complex projects in the areas of advanced water and wastewater process design, water supply, conveyance, pumping, and storage.



Responsibilities:

 Stantec is looking for a Practice Leader for our established Environmental Infrastructure practice area in Florida. The primary role for this individual is to coordinate business development activity and lead a team of professionals in growing Stantec's water and wastewater market share in the greater southwest Florida area. As part of the business unit leadership team, the candidate will share responsibility for the overall vision and financial success of the team.

 

Some of the key activities will include:

  • Organizing and supervising the work of a technical team with regard to the planning, design, processing and construction support of civil engineering projects.
  • Marketing new clients and maintaining existing clients; negotiating with and/or on behalf of clients
  • Preparing project proposals and attending pre- and post-proposals meetings/interviews
  • Supervising the preparation of engineering drawings and specifications, cost estimates, and preliminary and final reports for environmental infrastructure projects.
  • Assist in the recruiting, training, mentoring, and supervision of staff
  • Performing project management duties, including client and sub-consultant coordination; coordinating with public agencies; attending client meetings; and visiting job sites.
  • Maintaining project budgets, preparing estimates, establishing cost controls and maintaining project schedules; ensuring quality control; managing and controlling sub-consultant contracts

 



Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of 15 years of project management  and leadership experience, including ability to organize and supervise the work of other engineers, designers and sub-consultants
  • Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering or similar field
  • Valid Professional Engineer Registration in Florida, or ability to register within 12 months
  • Strong ability to develop business and established business relationships with utility and municipal clients in Florida.
  • Advanced degree and/or extensive experience in application of innovative water or wastewater treatment
  • Thorough understanding of the planning, design, permitting, bid preparation and contract administration of water supply and wastewater treatment projects for municipal governments and utilities in Florida.
