Natural Resource Group, LLC (NRG) is seeking a senior-level Electric Utilities Specialist to contribute to the growth and success of the Electric Gas and Power Utilities practice. With a deliberate focus on expanding our market share in this energy sector, we are looking for talent in this capacity to join us in office locations across the country. The successful candidate will have the knowledge and experience to literally hit-the-ground-running as they step into a project management role on capital development utility projects located throughout the United States. This individual will bring the experience and connections necessary to serve in an instrumental role in furthering the success of these projects and pursuing other business opportunities. The overall responsibilities of the Sr. Electric Utilities Specialist will involve scoping of work, preparation of project proposals and cost estimates, implementation and management of regulatory permitting strategies, and providing direction to NRG staff in our offices throughout the country. The individual selected for this position will be instrumental in mentoring and developing technical staff as well as managing current client relations through effective project management and customer relationship development. Working closely with the Office Manager, NRG's Vice President / Practice Lead of the utilities sector, as well as staff throughout our various offices, the successful candidate will play an important role in promoting our office's business efforts, with a particular focus on development of relationships with existing and potential new energy clients undertaking or planning to develop utility infrastructure projects. More specifically, the responsibilities include linear corridor and right-of-way assessment, siting, permitting, and acquisition; power generation and substation facility siting and permitting; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance; developing environmental impact assessments in accordance with NEPA requirements and state NEPA-equivalent permitting processes; actively identifying and pursuing electric utility client business opportunities relating to transmission markets by contacting utility managers, participating in industry conferences, and leading preparation/presentation of proposals; conducting transmission planning studies; and working on related projects within the energy industry. This position will require up to 25% travel for site visits and agency, public, and project team meetings. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION): The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors or Masters Degree in an environmental field of study and a minimum of 8 years of consulting experience with a strong focus in the electric utilities industry. Candidates must have a significant working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, experience as the primary point of client contact on past or present projects, and experience managing utilities projects for clients. Direct experience working with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as well as having existing industry contacts are preferred. Candidates must also demonstrate competence in client communications and relationship development; strong leadership and interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communications skills; proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite software programs; and the ability to multi-task under tight schedule constraints.
