Overview: Stantec, a full-service environmental services firm, is seeking interested students with a focus in natural resources to join our Environmental Management group in the Northeast US for the summer of 2010. We seek highly motivated individuals to join our current staff of professional specialists in wetland science, vernal pool ecology, habitat restoration, wildlife and fisheries biology, and regulatory permitting. This internship will offer valuable work experience, and for the right candidate, may result in future full-time employment upon graduation. Our Environmental Management group is dedicated to managing environmental issues proactively and professionally, and we focus on hiring exceptionally talented, enthusiastic, and hard-working individuals who have a keen interest in the natural sciences and working in a team-based environment. Responsibilities: Current project work in our water resources group includes large- and small-scale wetland delineations, natural community mapping, vernal pool assessment, RTE species surveys, environmental permitting, and wetland mitigation/restoration.
This position requires travel throughout New England and the ability to spend long days on foot through inclement weather. Primary function on projects will be to collect GPS data with a backpack unit and assist an experienced wetland scientist on delineations and other natural resource surveys.
The internship is a paid position. Compensation will depend upon the capabilities of the applicant.
